- 2024 Levy: The Lake Washington School District will run a Levy on the November 2024 ballot to address aging facilities. If approved, the district will use the funds to rebuild and enlarge the remaining facilities across the district that have not been updated since LWSD began a modernization plan over 25 years ago. Additional details are available from the district. Vote Yes to support our students, community, and staff!
We oppose the follow initiatives:
Initiative 2109: Renaissance School PTSA membership have voted to oppose Initiative 2109, aligning with the Lake Washington PTSA Council and Washington State PTA. The initiative seeks to repeal the capital gains tax, a vital funding source for public education, child care and school construction. Repealing this tax would significantly impact essential programs that support students, early learning and school infrastructure. We stand in advocating for sustainable education funding and urges all voters to vote NO on Initiative 2109 to protect our children’s future. Learn more about the importance of protecting this funding source, and find out how you can take action to urge fellow voters to vote NO on Initiative 2109: https://www.no2109.org/
Initiative 2117: Renaissance School PTSA membership have voted to oppose Initiative 2117, aligning with the Lake Washington PTSA Council and Washington State PTA. This initiative would repeal the Climate Commitment Act (CCA), a vital policy that funds projects improving school infrastructure, clean energy, and student health and safety. The CCA supports energy-efficient schools, zero-emission buses, and safe routes to school, directly benefiting students and their communities. Repealing it would harm progress on climate goals and threaten the well-being of children. We urge voters to vote NO on I-2117 to protect our children’s future. Get the facts about the real costs of 2117, and learn more about how to take action to stop this measure in its tracks: https://no2117.com/
Initiative 2066: Renaissance School PTSA membership voted to oppose Initiative 2066. The initiative seeks to repeal provisions of Washington law that require major utilities to find decarbonization pathways; repeals provisions requiring major utilities to maintaining natural gas rate stability for end users; and repeals provisions related to incentivizing electrification, among other provisions. Repealing decarbonization provisions and a pathway off natural gas would impact the ability of our schools to transition infrastructure to cleaner forms of energy. Renaissance School PTSA along with LWPTSA Council advocates for a sustainable future and cost savings for schools and urges all voters to vote NO on Initiative 2066 to protect our children’s future and health.
